Weekly Update

Hello Third Grade Families,

Please save these important dates:
  • Tuesday, September 11th - Firehouse Subs Night
  • Thursday & Friday, September 13th-14th - IOWA testing
  • Friday, September 14th - Family Fun Carnival  - I'll be in the dunk tank around 6:40.
  • Sept. 24-28th,  NO SCHOOL - Fall Break
Here's a look at our learning this week:

In writing, we will finish writing our personal narrative. We will be working on editing our work and looking for correct capitalization and punctuation. We will also begin to learn about pronouns this week.

In reading, we will be working on using context clues to help us understand the meaning of new words.

We are moving on to a new science unit on rocks and soils. This week we will learn about the attributes of rocks and minerals as well as the Moh's Hardness scale.

In math, we will continue with our understanding of the basics of multiplication. We will practice working with arrays, equal groups, and repeated addition.
Third and fifth grade will participate in IOWA testing September 13-18. (Thurs, Fri, Mon, Tues) Please be sure your child has a good breakfast, arrives on time, and has had plenty of sleep in preparation for testing. Click here for more info about the IOWA.

Homework: We will not have spelling words this week! There will not be a spelling test this Friday due to IOWA testing. We will send home math homework, but it is optional. If you feel your child can't handle the math this week, due to testing on Thursday and Friday, then please use your judgement and do what's best for your family! Please be sure to continue reading with your child for at least 20 minutes each night. Don't forget to log your minutes on biblionasium.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, let us know!

Have a great week!
