Weekly Update

Hello Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend. I enjoyed being dunked by so many of you in the dunk tank on Friday night at our carnival!

  • IOWA testing will continue on Monday and Tuesday morning this week.
  • Our in-house field trip with Diamond Del will take place this Thursday. Be sure to check your child's backpack for new treasures they will get to keep after the field trip.
  • We will visit the science lab on Monday after IOWA testing.
  • We will have a visit from our school counselor on Wednesday.
Here's a look at the rest of our learning this week:

In writing, we will finish up our personal narratives. Mrs. Keith and I are conferencing with the students as they finish their rough drafts and working on ways to improve our writing. Then the students will work on writing a final draft.

In reading, we will continue our work with using context clues to help us understand unknown words. Charlotte's Web has been helping us with this skill. We have also been reading shorter passages in small groups and looking for context clues with these texts. On Friday, we will culminate our work with Charlotte's Web by watching the movie. We will look for similarities and differences between the book and the movie.

In science, we will continue learning about rocks and soils. We will learn how scientists look at the properties of soils to determine what it is.

In math, we will learn how multiplication and division are related. We will continue working on making equal groups.

As always, please let me or Mrs. Keith know if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!
