Mrs. Keith and I are looking forward to seeing you at your scheduled conference time. Please email me if you need a reminder of your time. Remember, your child should be at the conference as well.

Here's a look at our learning this week:

In English Language Arts, we will focus on correctly spelling words when adding endings such as ing or ed. Last week, we spent time in the Learning Commons where Mrs. Nelson helped us gather research. This week we will turn our research into a short informative piece of writing.

In reading, we will begin learning about main idea and details. We will use several non-fiction texts as we practice identifying the main idea.

In science, we will continue our work with weathering and erosion and then learn about fossils.

In math, we will continue learning strategies for fluently multiplying and dividing. We will focus on the 5s and 10s facts this week. We will also learn about multiplying by multiples of 10s.
Check out this video from Khan Academy for more info. Multiples of 10.

Homework: Math homework will go home on Monday and should be returned by Friday. Multiplication facts should be practiced often. We are having weekly fact quizzes. Ask your child which set of facts he or she should be studying or look for his or her fact progress sheet in the front of their agenda. Spelling words will be in your child's agenda and should be studied in preparation for Friday's quiz. Your child should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each night. Please log minutes using biblionasium.

Have a great week!
