Weekly Update

Hello Third Grade Families!

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra time with your kids last week! I'm excited to see everyone bright and early tomorrow at Addison. We have a fun week planned!

Please save these dates on your calendar:

Tues., Feb. 25th, Firehouse Sub Night
Thurs., Feb. 27th, STEM DAY! Please send supplies if you can.
Fri., Feb. 28th, 7:00-7:45 am, FBI Breakfast
Wed., March 11th, Early Release Day
April 6th-10th, SPRING BREAK

This Thursday is STEM DAY! We will be completing a fun design challenge involving turtles of Georgia! If you are able, please send in the following supplies by this Wednesday.
cardstock, brass fasteners, paper plates, Styrofoam bowls & cups, cotton balls, cardboard, empty tissue boxes or shoeboxes, toilet paper rolls

Thank you for your help!

Next week (March 2-6) is Read Across America week. Here is the schedule:

Here's a look at our learning this week in ELA:

In reading, we will be learning about timelines. We will be using timelines of the early explorers lives to help us practice this skill. At home, students might have fun creating a timeline of their own lives. I'd love to see one if your child decides to make their own!

In writing, we will continue to focus on opinion writing. We will read two short texts and then form an opinion based on what we read. Then we will write about our opinions using reasons and examples.

Our grammar focus this week will continue with conjunctions. We will learn more about subordinating conjunctions and how to use them in our writing.

Please remember to turn in the pink reading challenge that was sent home last Friday. It is due on Wednesday.

As always, please let me know if you have questions or concerns about anything.

Thank you!
Laura Kloos
